Sunday Preview ~

June 2, 2011

I’m looking forward to preaching this Sunday in both our morning services as well as in Arcadia on Sunday night. My message this weekend is called “Resurrection Life” from John 11. For the next two weeks we will be looking at the story of Lazarus being raised from the dead. This week we will focus on the approach Jesus took and the message he brought when he received the news that the friend he loved was seriously ill. Next week we will look at the miracle he performed.

In this message, I want to answer some serious questions that are addressed in John 11. Is it possible that Jesus loves some people more than others? Is it possible that the Lord delays answers to our prayers in order to show people his glory? Is it possible that the Lord offends people he loves? Is it possible that death does not destroy the life of a believer? Is it possible that Jesus gets seriously disturbed by some situations? The simple answer to these questions is “yes.” Yet we have to understand God’s ways and have a relationship with him before the answers to these questions make sense.

I have often prayed, “Show me your ways, O Lord, teach me your paths.” (Psalm 25:4)  I hope we will all learn the ways of God so that the wisdom of God will guide us all our days.
